Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Random Thoughts...

...and some pictures.

Yesterday was my high school boy's Homecoming Dance. Their Homecoming game was way back in September. For some reason they had to split up the weekend, and this weekend was when the dance was scheduled. I truly didn't think Josh would go. In fact, if the dance had been held way back in September, I'm sure he wouldn't have. He's pretty shy, but he does like girls from a distance. I catch him watching pretty ones from afar. Pretty funny.

Anyway, Josh didn't know too many girls back in September -- he attends an all-boys' school and except for sporting events, girls are very scarce. But, when college boy moved into the dorm in late September, this little lady was on the scene, with her big brother, one of college boy's best friends. Josh and Ashley actually went to school together until fourth grade when Josh came home for school, so they remembered each other. But, Ashley has grown into quite the beautiful young lady and I was so pleased to see them together. She's sweet, and young, and innocent.

Doug dropped them off at Olive Garden, where they decided to eat dinner. Then the kids and I met Doug at a nearby sandwich shop (yum!) to grab a bite while the kids ate. Then I drove them down to the school -- a 20-minute or so drive. While we traveled, I listened to their conversation (don't ever think that chauffeur isn't listening!). They talked about music and which movie each wants to see when it comes out on DVD, and what they want for Christmas. And then they started talking about how early everyone decorates for Christmas now, and eventually their favorite Christmas shows. I almost giggled out loud when Ashley said she just loves Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman. They might look like grown up kids, but they are just babies inside. I love it!

Here they are in our living room (the girl came to our house this time, so I got pictures of them together) and getting into the car. She wore a very feminine and modest dress -- my kind of girl.

Today is college boy's birthday -- he's 19. We're picking him up on campus and taking him to noon Mass with us. Then we'll have dinner at home with his grandparents. His pumpkin pies are in the oven along with the Cinnamon Bun Bread, and the smells are lovely. I'm hungry. I'm going to go get college boy's baby pictures out and remember the day he was born -- a cool, bright autumn day, just like today. It was the day I became a mother -- what a life-changing day.

Happy Sunday, friends. Live, and love.

Happy Birthday to your biggest (and Happy Birth Day to you, mama).

BTW: I am loving that homecoming dress, and I'm pretty sure her hair color is what thousands of women try to replicate in salons across the coutry!

  6. Sounds like a great day! They are a beautiful couple and I hope they had a fabulous time at the dance. (And I hope my daughter has that taste in dresses when it's her time to go to Homecoming!)

  7. Oh my, those days will be coming before I know it. (Oldest is 10-year-old girl) They do look great though!

Also, there is nothing that compares with having your first. It's a mix of wonder and astonishment at what God has created, and absolute intense shock at the new 24/7 responsibility. Seems like yesterday...
