Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

No Relief in Sight

.

We're in a deep funk at our house this week.

On Sunday, we found out about the death of our dear friend and teacher Msgr. Bennett. And on Monday night we found out that my cousin Jill is so weak they cannot do surgery to relieve some of the issues that are causing her decline. There's a catch 22.

I have candles lit throughout the house and Peach stops at each one and says a Hail Mary for her Godmother. Lord, do you hear the prayers of little children more clearly, because this little one is praying hard?

We are so fortunate, but at times like this it's hard to be positive. I wait for the phone to ring for news about Jill, but when it rings I'm not sure I want to hear the news. All we can do is pray.

And today, the boys at our high school (all boys prep school) will receive the body of Msgr. Bennett. Each class will have a Vigil with him this afternoon, and tomorrow the entire student body will be present at his Requiem Mass. After the Mass, the boys will form an honor guard lining the driveways as his body leaves the campus. Give me strength, Lord.

I firmly believe that God has a purpose in everything, and I know that in this life, we don't get to know the whys. I have faith in God, and I know that good does come from suffering. It doesn't really make it any easier though.

  1. Oh, Barbara I will pray for you!
Sirach 2:1-6 This verse helped me this past week when seriously thinking "Can I really homeschool" and having many doubts. I think it fits ANY hard situation.

Sweet little Peach, she will be made stronger through this.
