Fr. Frank Pavone (Priests for Life) was in town this weekend, and yesterday at school, the boys and their schoolmates were privileged to listen to him talk. Doug sat in also and had a photo op before the talk.
After Fr. Pavone spoke, which Doug said was very impressive, he answered questions. Doug asked him how many of the boys' peers (children born in and around 1989 or 1990) were not born because of abortion, and Fr. Pavone said about 1 in 3. That is astounding, and overwhelmingly sad.
Prayer to End Abortion
Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen!
And, since we're on the subject of Pro-Life, if you're in a super Tuesday state, don't forget to vote. Use the Voter's Guide for Serious Catholics.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your dh got to attend! I saw announcement in our church bulletin and wanted to attend. Alas, the woods beckoned and I missed the opportunity to meet Fr. Pavone. I've heard he is a very powerful speaker...
I don't think the boys at the school had the same appreciation you and I do -- at least not beforehand. I'm certain many of them had never heard of him -- sad, but true. His speech was powerful though -- just what high school boys need to get through to them.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, how scary is that! 1 out of 3 children of my kids' generation! It's wonderful that your sons' school was privileged to hear him speak. They need to know.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome opportunity for your husband and your sons. Father Pavone is a saint and we could use a hundred more priests like him.
ReplyDeleteAt least.
What a blessing!! I'm sure his talk was excellant and inspiring!
