Don't let that title fool you. I am not a Type A driver. I drive calmly and efficiently. No grass grows under my wheels, but for the most part I do not speed. I do not yell at people from behind my window, or otherwise look for trouble.
This morning on the way to Mass (usually the only time I drive during rush hour), we were following a particularly slow car. No one was in front of it, its driver was just slow. I calmly, but with emphasis said to myself, but out loud, "You need to drive."
And from the back seat, my normally mild-mannered daughter yelled, "No parking on the street!"
Let's pray that she takes a vow before she gets her license.

ReplyDeleteLOL, I AM a type-A driver and I apparently have passed along that gene to my kids (even Little Brother).
ReplyDeleteHowever, today I was passed on the right, on a single-lane road, by some car who didn't like that I was only exceeding the speed limit by 5 mph, and then I saw the same car pass 2 other cars and a SCHOOL BUS on the right.
Why are there never cops around at moments like that?
I might speed some, swear some, and mutter (OK, not so quietly) at other drivers, but I am NOT aggressive and dangerous.
Ha Ha! My husband is a type A driver...I am not, but my remark to very slow drivers in front of me is, "If you get any slower, it will be tomorrow!"
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Italy I found that the "culture of speed" put Americans into 2 camps: the Mario Andretti wanna-bes (me), and the grandma type (dh). No cops, no rules, and the faster car always had the right-of-way. By the time I got back to the States I had to learn quickly not to drive 80mph down the town's streets!

Thanks for your fun comments, ladies. If two out of four of you are Type A drivers, I guess she's not so unusual. I suppose this is a nature versus nurture thing!
