Today is the first Sunday of the season of anticipation. I love Advent. I guess it goes back to the childlike love of knowing that something wonderful is coming.
Today we will light the advent wreath and say the prayer, start the Advent Calendar (here is a fun online calendar -- click on Daily Advent Calendar, then click on Show calendar and then click on each day for readings and an activity) and hang the first ornament on the Jesse Tree. I highly recommend using the Jesse Tree -- it's a great Old Testament learning tool.
Here is a good resource for some of these activities. And here is a good resource for daily prayer and meditation, and an activity.
This is another really good Advent resource. It is not Catholic, but it is a great resource for links, songs, crafts, gifts, and coloring and activity pages.
O Lord, stir up Thy might, we beg Thee, and come, That by Thy protection we may deserve to be rescued from the threatening dangers of our sins and saved by Thy deliverance. Through Christ our Lord.
