Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Catholic Guilt

When I woke up this morning, it was 19 degrees outside. Farenheit. Brrrr. I had every intention of attending Mass this morning. At least when I went to bed last night. But, the thought of waking two children and dragging them out into the cold was more than I could face. So, I changed my mind. And now, I am feeling badly. I know that I had no obligation to Mass this morning, but I feel I wasn't strong enough for God. Does God get His feelings hurt when I'm not strong enough for Him? I can't decide. If it was just me, I would have gone. But, I feel badly for the children. I know that I shouldn't protect them so much. Many children were out at the bus stop this morning. I feel badly for them, too.

So, we will have Spiritual Communion today. And we will do school the Catholic way. I'm trying to ease my Catholic guilt.

Anyway, I spent an obscene amount of time this morning trying to figure out how to bring you this faith-filled music. Maybe I get points for that? (Just kidding.)

We have a peaceful weekend ahead. I'm looking forward to it. One event on the schedule. I'm going to try to not notice any dust on the furniture and get by with a quick wipe up in the baths. We went to the library yesterday (we actually did school at the library yesterday, which is a fun change of scenery). We brought home as many DVDs as we could. Some picks by Michael, some by Peach and some by mom.

So, I intend to spend the weekend relaxing, watching videos, knitting, and finishing up a very large quilt (more on that later). I might have to hide out up in the bedroom, with college football still on, but that's o.k. Tonight we'll all watch The Village together. The teens love that one, and Doug and I like it, too.

The movie line-up is:
By Michael:
Rocky
King Kong (ugh)

By Peach:
Strawberry Shortcake (ugh)
The Wiggles (double ugh)
Miracle Maker, the Story of Jesus (yea!)

By mom:
The Fighting Sullivans
To Catch a Thief
Cinderella Man
Failure to Launch (maybe)

Have a great weekend. Stay warm. Thank God. Love one another.

  1. Barbara,
The Fighting Sullivans is excellent! We really enjoyed Cinderella Man and an excellent movie too although watching some of the boxing was painful. Definitely worth watching!
