Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Our Boudoir

...although the boudoir is technically a woman's bedroom, and I do share with a man.

I don't know if revealing the marital bed on the Internet violates some unspoken rule, but Jennie and Michelle gave me the nerve to do it. Cleaning up for Father's House Blessing helped (not that it was that far gone before, but there is absolutely not one little cobweb now!). I recently purchased a new bedspread that I want to show off. This is my grown-up bed spread -- you know, when you imagine something that you'll have when you're grown up. Well, I'm 45. I think it's time. So when this year's tax refund was anticipated I asked if a bedspread could be on the list. Doug said, sure. Not that we haven't had a bedspread before. We've had several of those bed-in-a-bag type bed spreads in our married life. We've never had an uncovered bed -- my mother brought me up to cover my bed sheets. But none have been what I really wanted. So, I went shopping and bought Matelassé (is that a grown-up word or not?). It's what I've always wanted. It's simple and elegant at the same time. But, not fussy. I'm not fussy.

Our walls have been painted this gold color for about two years. I like the color, but need to keep the blinds closed during the day or the room looks like it's on fire. At night, and in the winter, it has a lovely golden glow. The carpet is sage green, which I would not pick if I had it to do over again. But, it's fairly neutral, even though it is green. The chair is a deeper shade of the carpet and pulls the green and gold together. The spot over the bed is currently bare. I'm saving to purchase and frame this print.

The bed and window side of the room. Doug's chest of drawers.

My dresser, pictures of the children and Our Lady of the Snow on the far side.

The wall of boy babies. All taken around three months.

And the girl baby.

If you are daring enough to post pictures of your boudoir, please leave me a comment so I can post a link. I dare you.

  1. Barbara, the bedspread is beautiful! And I loooove the framed print you're saving for to hang over the bed. It's lovely and will look striking with the wall color.

  3. Oooh I also love that print. My parents used to have a copy in their dining room. Then I had it in my apartment for a while right after college. Not sure what happened to it. I hope it's safe somewhere.
