As mothers, sometimes our days seem to drag on for years. Why is it then, that our children suddenly seem to grow up overnight? I was recently faced with some pretty obvious signs that my children are growing up, and I'm not doing a good job at facing reality.
* Discussions at the dinner table are now regularly including the terms SAT, GPA, campus visit, and financial aid.
* I now have three males in my house who use shaving cream and a razor (on their faces!).
* When I recently purchased white socks for my boys I discovered that they all wear the same size. All three boys, and their dad, wear shoes between sizes 9 and 11, including my 10-year-old Michael. The silver lining is no sock sorting -- just lots of the same pairs.
* Yesterday when five-year-old Peach was taking off her nightgown, she asked, "Mom, are my boobs getting bigger yet?" (one downside to having a 12-year spread is that the little ones have a saltier vocabulary).
I think I'll just grab their baby books and head back to bed until I can get a grip!
