All I wanted was a lil' ol' computer shopping list. Sounds easy enough, right? I have my menu on my computer, my recipes on my computer, if I could just toggle back and forth with my shopping list, I would be in 'puter heaven.
But, nooooo -- not for my Mac! I am, again, the victim of Mac discrimination. I guess Mac users must resort to paper and pen.
I did find a few online grocery lists, most of which were completely inadequate, the best of which was from Publix, and was the one I ended up using today. God bless Publix, I don't even have one nearby. You'd think Kroger, the largest grocery store chain in the country, would offer such a lovely service. But, no.
So, if you know of a fabulous online (or Mac friendly software) grocery list, please leave a comment.
Will this one work? http://www.mygrocerychecklist.com/
ReplyDeleteI did see that one Michelle, but didn't want to pay the $10 not knowing how it would work. Do you use it?
ReplyDeleteI tried it and didn't have to pay any money.
ReplyDeleteI made my own grocery list in Word. The items are in the order I see them at the store, and I have listed the typical things I buy like "onions" or "bananas". If I decide I want "peaches" (not listed), I will just write that in next to the other produce.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I move, I can easily cut and paste to rearrange based on the new store layout. I do need to update my list - I don't have "dog food" listed, and we've had her for nearly a year.
I'll print out several pages of this to have them handy. On good weeks, I'll put one on the fridge and circle things as I know I need them.
The list took quite a bit of time to develop. I took a pen with me to the grocery store and would mark it up to show what came first in the store as I walked through. But once it's done, custom-tailored to your family and your usual store, you only need to update it if you change stores, the store moves things around or as your family's eating habits change.
I also have a "short list" that I've used for my husband after babies have been born which only lists perhaps 3 dozen items. I didn't want to overwhelm him with a cluttered paper - even if only 10 things were circled!
