Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Oh, Martha!

I'm really not a Martha groupie (even if my family tells you otherwise), but I have to admit that "Martha" does some things really well. I say "Martha" because "Martha" is more of an institution than a person (did you know that if you Google the name Martha, her website is the first hit?).

One thing "Martha" does really well is anything
thoroughly. Like to the nth degree. Sometimes that's not good -- like writing a recipe that contains 29 ingredients, 25 of which you cannot purchase in a grocery store in Columbus, Ohio. Sometimes it is good -- like creating my spring cleaning list.

I was just thinking about making a list (
honestly!) and what should appear in my in-box today, but a link to Martha's spring cleaning list. I washed the curtains in the living room and dining room today, and cleaned the windows (indoors). And as I was hanging the last of the curtains, I thought, "I did not even make a list so that I can cross this off." Isn't that the most satisfying part of the chore, crossing it off the list?

So I'm sitting down with Martha's list tonight and paring it (just a little) so that tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, I can cross off my chores when I'm finished.
