Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

On the Eighth Day of Christmas...

...Eight Maids a Milkshakes, which is much better than anything consumed on New Year's Eve, and I didn't even have a drop to drink. I didn't even eat more than a small plate of nibbles, but the wretched excess of food in my home -- even though I only provided a small fraction of it -- makes me not want to eat for several days.

Today Asian pork ribs and Asian slaw, with rye bread and biscuits are on the menu, with Peppermint Chocolate Chip Milkshakes for dessert -- our Maids a Milkshakes.

For each peppermint milkshake:

one candy cane, crushed with a meat mallet (put in a ziploc bag)
2 T. chocolate chips
3 scoops vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt
about 1/2 cup milk
a few drops of vanilla and peppermint extract each
1 T. sugar
whipped cream

In a blender, blend ice cream, milk, candy cane, sugar and extracts until almost blended. Add chocolate chips and blend until chocolate pieces are tiny. Pour into glass and top with whipped cream.

The Eight Maids-a-milking represent the Eight Beatitudes.
