Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Knitting and a quilt top

I have been working on Faith's Tiny Tea Leaves cardigan quite a bit since the recitals (I picked it up when I was sitting with the girls backstage). I am almost finished with the body. I hope I have enough yarn left for two sleeves, as this girl just keeps getting longer every day. I like the color and the yarn except when I am knitting, the pea pod green fuzz ends up all over the front of me. I hope that stops when I block it.

I am reading Second Nature by Jacquelyn Mitchard. I just started it, so I don't have much of an opinion, but I have loved everything else by Mitchard so I imagine I will like this one, too. I finally finished Something Other than God by Jennifer Fulwiler, and enjoyed it. I can't say it was over-the-top like I expected it to be (because of everything I read about other people reading it, not because it wasn't a good book), but it was a great conversion story.

Speaking of great conversion stories, I remembered what else I was going to say yesterday. Doug and I attended the Greater Columbus Right to Life dinner on Monday night and heard Abby Johnson speak. You might remember Abby from her book Unplanned, about her conversion from being a director of a PP center to being vehemently pro-life. Abby has also converted to Catholicism since that book was published and is now very pregnant with her fourth child. She was a great speaker, very funny, and I would embrace the opportunity to hear her speak again any day.

My other project, one I have been working on as much as possible, is a baby quilt for a tiny little boy who is probably growing as much as my tall, skinny girl, so I really need to wrap it up. I now have the top finished and will attach the back and quilt it, hopefully by the end of the week. I love the colors. They look so clean with each other. I think when my boys were little guys they probably wore reds, blues, and white with khaki almost all the time. I do so love little boys.

Join Ginny and friends if you are looking for a new project or want to find a good read.

  1. Your sweater is so pretty. I love the green! And that patriotic-inspired boy quilt is so sweet! Joseph still covers up with the one you made for him, although he is starting to complain that it doesn't cover his feet anymore :-)

That's awesome that you got to hear Abby Johnson. I can only imagine what a powerful talk that must have been. Deo Gratias!
I think what struck me so much about SOTG was that it was the clear truth and beauty of the Church's position on life issues - which often is what sends folks running and screaming from us - that really helped to bring her home.
