Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Tuesday Daybook (is it Tuesday? I've already lost track)

Outside my window...

...sunny, unseasonably cool and breezy. It's almost perfect in my book.

 I am thinking...

...about catching up. Time has been passing at breakneck speed with so much of life going on. I need to catch up in a lot of areas, but it takes time to catch up from such a chaotic period.

From the lesson plans...

...slowly, slowly slowly, finishing. May was not a great school month, but I am pleased that we did what we could. Faith has math lessons left in the book, and after she finishes the lessons, I'll have her do all the supplemental sets, and then start the next book. Saxon designs the books so that the first half is review, so might as well do books back-to-back. She has English books to finish as well, and I think we'll start US geography as a sort of "fun" trivia course over the summer. We are still doing some science and have butterflies on order for a science lab over the summer. We studied the life cycle and now are doing weather while the order for the caterpillars gets filled. I think we'll just keep chugging away as long as we can.

From the kitchen..

...leftovers. We had an engagement party on Sunday for family and the kids' friends. There was a lot of food and some is left -- like sugar cookies. Tell me how did I end up with dozens of sugar cookies left? Tonight for dinner are some leftover hamburgers we didn't yet grill, so they'll be like new.

 I am wearing...

...a peach and gray floral skirt, and white tee. Maybe a gray cardigan as well. Brrr.

I am reading...

...I recently started a couple of books, most notable is Motherless by Brian Gail. I am also listening to one of John Grisham's books, The Confession, which I probably would have dropped in print form, but when gardening, it's entertaining. Can't really recommend it, however. It's preachy, which isn't so terribly bad, as it's on the death penalty, but it has a very unsavory character, sort of chilling.

I am creating...

...oh the list has gotten so very, very long. I got so behind during May. Whew. I will be so happy to just sit and sew and create rosaries.

I have:
18 scapulars to sew
four chapel veils to sew
a Confessional stole to finish when it comes back from the embroiderer
five baby onesies to embroider
a peasant blouse for Faith to sew
two sets of doll bunk bedding to sew
a white wedding rosary to make

I wonder how long it will take to plow through that list?

 I am planning...

...to start physical therapy for my arthritic back, and see another orthopedist for bursitis in my hip. One of the great downfalls of being on coumadin is not being able to take anti-inflammatory drugs, and so I end up getting cortisone shots in my joints. Yes. Ouch. I may try ice for a couple days to see if I can head off a shot at the pass. After the last go-round with the neurologist I got some relief that day. The shot was mightily painful because he had a hard time finding the nerve, but at least the lidocaine helped that day. Unfortunately the burning is back, which means the steroid shot did nothing. I see that doc again in July.

I am hoping...

...for a peaceful week. Such a simple request, yet so elusive.

 Around the house...

...laundry -- big piles. And ironing.

I am going...

...to take Faith to the library for some schoolwork today. She is enjoying the library now that we discovered a quiet place upstairs in the adult section.

 I am praying for...

...my children, and my husband

...all those suffering from the tornadoes in the Plains

...our priests and all religious

...all of the babies whose mothers are contemplating abortion this week, and for a change of heart for their mothers.

Photo for the day...

  1. Boy, am I hoping for the same thing, but I believe it is just as elusive here. And the laundry, oh the laundry!

    Congratulations to Joshua and Taylor!

  2. what a sweet couple! congratulations!

And I hope you can find some relief from your pain. I know those shots are awful (Rob has several patients who get them).

  3. Congratulations to your son and his fiancé! And to you! :) How exciting!

And 18 scapulars is only the first item on the list? That alone seems overwhelming! They are just so beautiful though! Such a blessing to all of us who are blessed to have them! :)

Continued prayers for you! I think of you pretty much every time I put on lipstick now, and say a little prayer for your family! ;)

  4. Jenny,
How's the laundry? Mine is still dirty for the most part!

  5. Thanks, Aimee. My doctor put me on 800 mg ibuprofen, which thins the blood, so now I have to go to the anti-coagulation clinic more often to make sure I don't bleed to death. That's the big problem with coumadin -- no anti-inflammatory drugs, which sometimes you just need. I am also icing it 4 times a day -- a good reason to sit. ;-)

  6. Thanks, Jessica. I am looking forward to wedding plans -- I just have to remember I'm the mother of the GROOM and keep my mouth shut. ;-)
