Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

moving day...streaming

College is messy work for mothers. We never get the "fun first day of class, stacks of new notebooks and 60# books" stuff.

We get dirty laundry and moving from one apartment to another.

I told you the kid came home for a couple days. He and the posse are breaking up. One boy graduated (though he is still living on campus at the moment), one boy moved home (I would too -- mom and dad have a nice home and his only sister is away at school), and the kid is moving into a place of his own. He is officially headed into his fifth year (can you believe we've been doing this for four years?) and the home stretch. He has had repeat problems getting into major classes and now the university is switching to semesters, making the issue ten times worse.

But for his last year, he found a studio apartment (or I did) and we're moving him today. Yesterday we shopped for new bedding and bathroom gear. This morning we are headed to campus to move all the boxes and mattress from one apartment, we have to clean that apartment (you have no idea) and then we have to get him settled at the new place.

Faith is staying with grandma for the day because she was rather weak from older brother abuse yesterday (the oldest doles it out to another and it goes down the line eventually landing with the youngest -- every action has an equal an opposite reaction).

Say a prayer for me. There is only so much pithy college boy I can handle.

  1. There's only so much college apartment cleaning I can handle! We helped a little when our oldest moved from one apt. to the larger one next door, but that was all. I wouldn't dream of helping when my son moves out (of that same apt. which he took when she left)! It is one of the most disgusting places on the planet!! My son tries to keep it clean, but the 3 roommates don't make any effort. I won't expect a deposit coming back there!

Good luck. Don't wear yourself out; it was his apt.!

  2. Aww, Grandma time will be good for Faith--and Grandma. And Please Please Please do NOT send pictures of filthy college apartment. I don't want to even think about what's in store for my son in that regard. We're only allowing him to do an on-campus apartment because of the ghetto in which his school is located (we don't do slumlords in this family) but I'm sure it's not going to be a pretty sight. I did find out, however, that one of his roommates is bringing a vacuum.

  4. I have that at my house also. Goes down the line.
Nobody is picking on the toddler though. The toddler does dish it out on our puppy. Poor thing. The dog doesnt need puppy classes...the toddler does.

curious about the college boy..what is it that makes him so pithy. love that word!!

  5. You crack me up, Barbara! Praying for you...that the cleaning is easier than you anticipated. I just know how one 11 year old boy can mess up a bathroom...I can only imagine an apartment with several males. Good luck to you!
