Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Yarning along...

...with Ginny at Small Things

Knitting, and reading about knitting. Total immersion here. If you can't go whole hog, don't go at all, I say.

I finished Faith's vest and she has worn it twice, but now it is being laundered so I can't show you. But, I will, I promise -- the next time she wears it.

I cast on this wimple, which I intend to use when it snows, but I am rather disenchanted with it at the moment. It feels like I have been working on it for a long time, and as you can see, I have not much to show for my effort. The yarn is KnitPicks Alpaca Cloud in smoke heather, and I am thinking it might be too lightweight for this project, even though the pattern calls for lace weight. I think it would be better for a wrap to use with a dressy dress. I am just not sure I am going to ever be able to see the beautiful pattern in this wimple when I am finished. My mother taught me never to quit mid-way, however, and that, paired with my stubborn nature means I will finish it no matter what.

I am reading Knitting Rules by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, and it is a rather humorous look at knitting from an non-knitter's perspective (paired with some cool tricks -- like burning mystery yarn to see what it really is. Cool.) I can see that it would be handy to have a copy in the reference section of my bookshelves.

My kindle is pictured because I keep my patterns downloaded on it. Very handy. And I am a lot less likely to lose it than a sheet of paper.

That's it for today. Be sure to stop by Ginny's to see what everyone else is busy with.

  1. I think we've had this conversation before: Block it first! :-) Lace always looks..pardon me...crappy until it's blocked. Love the color!

  2. I know, I know! It's just that the yarn is fluffy. I think it needs a little weight.

  3. A cool app I found for my ipod is called stitchminder. I don't have to make little tick marks on my patterns anymore! It has 4 different counters that you can use to count rows, pattern repeats, increase rows, etc.

I bet the lace will turn out beautifully. I love the color.

  4. I found an app for my iphone, too, Jenny, after Sara wrote about hers. I think it's just called "Knit."

PS the color is the color of my hair so I figure it will look "natural" on. ;-)
