Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

43-49/52

52 weeks of daily life in pictures: trials and celebrations,
the extraordinary and mundane --
whatever is unique to the week.

Wow, I skipped a few weeks. I don't think I'll try this little project again next year. I overestimated the exciting activity that goes on in my house. Or possibly I just didn't want to bore you to death. Or maybe I just didn't pick up my camera as much as I hoped.

Anyway, last one before Christmas. Hopefully I'll have a few more during Christmas week before the end of the year. Can you believe that? The end of the year just around the corner.

Back in mid-fall, Noah and Faith were goofing in the back yard. Faith pretended all day to be a Native American. I love this picture because even the dog looks goofy.

Doug spent one Saturday cutting down a few trees (he also felled the fence, not pictured). I love how it looks with all the moss that had grown on the shady side of the tree.

A log ring for the swing set, at Faith's request.

The two felled trees.
Two new chairs for the family room. I went shopping with the intent to buy black or brown fabric -- never red, and never leather. But I love them. We all do. What possessed me?

Faith doing her reading from one.

Twenty six years on November 16, and a dozen pretty reds.

The three Thanksgiving Day tables -- the best part.

Doug putting up the Christmas lights -- the boys promised they would do it but Doug wouldn't let them up on the ladder. When he got his big ladder out he noticed that the cushions for the ends (whatever those things are called) were missing. Hmmm. Anyway, here's a close up so you can see how he improvised:

Looks like a real fireman's ladder!
(no, he's not a real fireman)

A treat for the church office on St. Nicholas day. The ladies at the church office are some of the most appreciative people.

My own St. Nicholas tea -- Twining Christmas tea and Speculatius cookies.

  1. I won't be as quick to do this either! But, I am glad for the posts because it kept me posting at a time when it was difficult. I'll see if I can catch up before the end of the year...

  2. Love the ring of stumps!!

You'll have to read "The Giving Tree" since you have that nice stump now.

I love your St Nicholas idea of giving away....I'll have to do that next year!

I love your chairs, they look great and look very comfy. We got leather a couple years ago, and I love it too, never thought I would!

  3. We have red leather furniture in our family room ... I didn't set out to buy red either, but I love it now!!

I like your St. Nicholas basket. That is so sweet!! =)

Oh, and in response to your Christmas decorating post ... It is so stressful for me to trim the tree with the kids. They go nuts! Practically throwing the ornaments on, wanting to know which ornaments are theirs ... It is not calm at all. So, I think I get what you mean about the mood being ruined ... Oh well! One day, it really will just be me and Greg trimming the tree, and I'm sure I'll miss the chaos. So, I just keep *trying* to live in the moment, even the messy and hectic ones!

Hope your week is filled with much JOY!
    Blessings.

  5. My kids would LOVE a log ring like that--around our fire pit. (Too bad the previous owners of this house cut down all the trees in the backyard save one puny little one.)

That ladder fix is genius--as well as hilarious.

  7. I have red leather furniture as well! Wasn't looking for them either but I do have a good deal of burgundy in my house and it works.

Is that Fiestaware on one of the tables?
