Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Thankful Monday

.
I'm starting the week here being very thankful to God for a really nice, relaxing weekend.

The highlights:

On Saturday I made plans with my mom to attend a local shopping fundraiser. It was sponsored by a local all-girls school in a hoity toity end of town, and though the shopping was very chic (and very rich) and I didn't buy a thing, it was fun to look.

Thankfully my mom only had two tickets and Faith could not attend, because "can I have this?" six hundred times would have seriously ruined it for me.

After shopping and then popping in at Panera for a relaxing Pumpkin Spice Latte (yum!), we cruised by home before heading out for an all-girls dinner. Faith opted out of going to dinner with us (shock!) because Josh's girlfriend was over for the football game and Faith was stuck like Super Glue to her side (Which means they didn't have one second alone -- younger sisters are great babysitters for teenager couples. Bet ya didn't know that!).

Because Faith was otherwise occupied, my mom and I went to dinner, just the two of us, and actually finished our sentences and then some. What a treat. Dinner was yummy, too, and she treated -- a win, win!

Doug prepared dinner for our kids, Josh's girlfriend, and another pal while I was at dinner with my mom. And only the plates and glasses were left for me to wash when I got home!

Sunday was a lovely relaxing day as well, at least it was after Mass. Satan always stops by the house before we leave for Mass and stirs things up in hopes that we won't go. He never wins, but he consistently tries. Of course, the Holy Eucharist never fails to bring peace. We came home from Mass to a nice egg and sausage casserole just finishing in the oven (love delayed time bake!) and everyone was happy.

I started a good book in the afternoon (Barb loaned me her copy of Fatherless), and then took a little nap on the sofa. Sundays are just perfect for little naps.

The kids were outdoors all weekend long, which is a good thing -- it makes for much peace indoors.

We enjoyed a delicious meal for dinner, and my mom dropped off freshly baked Apple Dumplings for dessert. Again a win, win!

I hope that your weekend was memorable and relaxing as well. Happy Monday! There's freshly baked Pumpkin Bread (that I made with butternut squash) so stop by for coffee if you're in the neighborhood. ;-)

PS I noticed last night that it is six weeks until Advent. Six Weeks -- better get those candles ordered!

  1. Satan visited our house before Mass yesterday, too. I hate it when he does that. He tried to linger awhile after we got home, too ... The nerve of him! UGH! Thank God the grace of the sacraments.

  2. This was a most enjoyable post. Being thankful is so important and I love how it was "real" too. I never thought about how having kids commenting the entire time really makes shopping (or anything for that matter) a bit more challenging. (I have four young ones so I never really get a break from the running commentary.) In any case, thank you for sharing your thankfulness. Oh and the music on your website is most soothing, as well. It is women like you that are a real treat in the blogging world.

    Blessings!
