Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Good/Bad Friday

.

Good: a basket of gourds

Good: knitting in the October sun with a chilly breeze to cool off my cheeks

Good: an Autumn fire

Bad: plantar fasciitis. I think it's worse from standing at the sink doing dishes. I need to do something about all these dishes. The dishwasher part will not be shipped until mid-November, so I'm in this for the long haul. I need to simplify meals based on pot and pan usage.

Good: clean sheets. Because I love them so much, I have them at least once a week. I'm kind of obsessed about them.

Good: International Coffee Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer (I'm a total coffee snob, but this stuff is good)

Bad: a sore tailbone -- I really think it is arthritis, but I'm not sure what to do. Many of my joints are feeling achy right now and I guess it's the cold weather. I think that's a sign you're getting old when your joints react to weather. :-( Between the plantar fasciitis and the sore tailbone, I can neither sit nor stand comfortably. (Will you come to my pity party?)

Good: PW Spaghetti with Artichokes and Tomatoes. Even better leftover for lunch. Yum!

Good: Baking bread and delivering loaves (and being rewarded with scripture)
"Give to the hungry some of your bread, and to the naked some of your clothing. Whatever you have left over, give away as alms; and do not begrudge the alms you give." Tobit 4:16

Bad: a doggy that drinks from the toilet (yuck!). Does anyone know why a doggy would pass by a fresh bowl of water to drink toilet water? Hmmm. Don't answer that.

Good: McDonald's Happy Meals when they have Halloween buckets. I can't resist.

Good: Caramel Puff Corn for St. Isaac Jogues feast day. We still have some left. Yum!

Bad: political phone calls. Does anyone answer these? And if you do, do you listen? It seems it would be a much better use of funds to set up a food line for the needy and hand out cards with free meals.

Good: My Cousin Vinny -- our weekend flick; never get tired of it.

Good:
many requests for rosaries

Good: Friday morning Mass followed by a Panera Cobblestone (more Yum!) and coffee.

That's the good and the bad this happy October Friday. I hope that you have all good for the weekend.

  1. Looks like a pretty good day! Except for your discomfort. So sorry to hear about that =( I hope you are able to get comfortable somehow.

P.S. Now I am tempted to treat the younger kids (who are at home today) to a Happy Meal for lunch! They would *love* it!!

  2. I'm too tired to think through the connection but why caramel puff corn for St. Isaac Jogues feast? Caramel 'cause he's French.

    Brain. Mine. Overloaded.

Would you believe, however, that caramel puff corn was the treat that I brought all three families last weekend? Ha! They sell a pricey version at the Mall of America, I think because Old Dutch is a local company.

So I told Charlotte & Jenn & Meg, "Enjoy it while you can. I don't know if you can find puff corn down here!"

    Aren't I nice?

  3. That's supposed to be "Caramel 'cause he's French?"

It was a question, not a statement.

I told you! I need to go have some coffee with pumpkin-flavored creamer. Yum. Makes being tired all the more worthwhile.

  4. Sarah,
I hope you treated those little sugars! They deserve a treat.

    Margaret,
Do you mean that you can not read my mind? I am so disappointed. ;-)

Ha! Well, the Caramel Puff Corn is a real stretch from popcorn...for the native Americans.

You really need to try my recipe. I'm sure it's a fraction of the price of whatever you bought at the Mall...and infinitely better tasting.

  5. There are many goods on your list and I find that good. Your rosaries are beautiful. Enjoy your knitting time and pumpkin flavoured coffee. I'm off to have my second cup of joe.

  6. I did NOT buy the pricey version. I bought two bags of Old Dutch puff corn and made it myself. (It's the same recipe that you posted! Who'd a thought?)

  7. I have the foot problem also.

It is a pain. Seems like it will never ever go away.

Thinking of you. Hope your tootsies and behind heal.

  8. I'm sorry you're in pain. Have the exercises helped at all?

  9. Thanks, Sarah. I just got some new beads, centers and crucifixes. Lots of good stuff.

    Christine,
It does seem like it never goes away for good.

    Sara,
The exercises help under normal conditions, but with all the standing and washing, I am on my feet a lot more. I hate the think that the increased walking on the treadmill is causing problems -- I'm hoping it's just standing and washing and it will go away when the dishwasher gets fixed.
