Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7

Daybook...cold October morning version

.

Outside my window...
...chilly morning, gray skies. It rained a lot yesterday ~~ I'll have to remember to let Maggie out front or she'll be all muddy.

I am thinking...
...about my two grown boys. One driving to school all by himself, the other walking to class from his apartment. I really do miss their little boy selves. Will that feeling ever go away?

I am thankful for...
...Monday. We had a busy weekend and Monday seems like a break. That's an odd feeling.

From the learning rooms...
...a regular five-day week. Odd that I am grateful for not having a day off, but it really does throw my equilibrium off.

From the kitchen...
... Pizza Rolls for lunch, and Pulled Pork, cabbage slaw and fried potatoes for Dinner. Labor Day's leftovers are in the freezer, along with the yummy sauce, so most of my dinner is already done, Love it. St. Francis' Poor Man's Tonsure Cake for dessert. Yum!

I am wearing...
...khaki pants, a warm, black fleece sweater, Haflinger clogs -- we're not going anywhere today.

I am creating...
...a cotton scarf to match the green cotton hat I made for charity. I have a pearl St. Michael rosary to make this week, as well as another one of these. Last week I made five Seven Sorrows chaplets. Whew!

I am reading...
...Prayer Primer: Igniting a Fire from Within.

I am hoping...
...that Faith will have an easy time this week -- she is getting braces on her teeth, and I suspect it will be difficult for her. She has already mentioned "looking ugly" which I told her was not even remotely possible. I don't where she got that idea, but I'll sock anyone in the nose that I hear say it.

I am hearing...
...the fish tank bubbling. Everyone else is still sleeping.

Around the house...
...We're pretty well caught up on laundry, which is great. I have some ironing to do and a pick-up from the weekend, but other than continually sweeping up the dog hair, we're good.

One of my favorite things...
...a great feast day. I love to think about a great saint in heaven all day long. St. Francis and I have already had a few conversations this morning. I'm going to light a candle this morning and enjoy it's glow, like the great saint himself, all day.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
...braces for Faith on Tuesday, a cardiologist appointment for me on Thursday, and SATs for Joshua on Saturday (yikes!).

A picture thought...
Last year at this time Maggie was a little puppy... she has changed so much. Now she is a big dog and is such a horrible beggar. Last night at our Oktoberfest meal she feasted on lots of treats from the table -- she'll lay her head right in your lap, very patiently, but nevertheless (I usually chase her away from the table, but last night I had too much going on to really notice).

  1. That rosary you're recreating is one of my favorites!

    Happy Monday to you!

  2. I hope Faith does well with her braces! Everyone gets them; it's no big deal. And better now than when you're 13 and boy crazy. Oh, sorry, Faith will never be that since she's going to be a nun. ;-)

  4. Re: braces--there's no way they could make Faith look ugly, she's too cute. :) Love that pic of her and Maggie!

  5. Blessings on this feast!

Cardiologist? Hope all is well. Count on prayers coming your way.

As to missing Little-Boy selves, Middle Sister is right there with you. She wishes Little Brother were about 2 or 3. I, on the other hand, am enjoying the more self-reliant 8-year-old that I've got!

  6. I'm right there with St.Giannaprayforus--you always miss them. Sometimes much more than others, but you kind of get used to that 'missing them' feeling...
