Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me

.

On the off chance that you did not see Ann Voskamp's latest post:

"How we treat the weaker is our treating of Jesus.

Not like we treat Jesus. Not similarly. But how we treat the weak IS our treating Jesus. When you gave a cup of water to one of these little ones, so you gave it to Me."

This has been a popular topic of conversation in our house lately, not just in regard to bullying, or name-calling, but in the larger scheme of being our brother's keeper. Ann's post really resonated with me today.

  1. oohh. this is good stuff.
especially since we recently read the cain and abel story. and because these three brothers act an awful lot like cain and abel.
and what a task it is to remember that we really are supposed to be our brothers' keeper.

i loved your story about mary leading you to Jesus, barb. that was really beautiful. i used to suffer profusely from migranes myself. so i know how debilatating they are. and then i suffer from "figurative" blindness quite often too....so that beautifully struck a chord in my heart.
    hope you are feeling better!
    take care and God bless.

  2. That post of Ann's came at just the right time for us. Yesterday a couple big brothers were "hazing" brother #3. They seem to know the very youngest is off limits, but Michael is nearly as big as they are and just doesn't back down. The words exchanged were far more harsh than any actions (I'm blessed with boys who really seem to know that physical violence is the ultimate no-no around here.) But the name calling is worse in many ways. Bruises can heal, but words can never be "un-heard" and once they hit the ears they lodge in the heart. We had such a good discussion thanks to Ann's post. Home should be a bully-free zone, too!
